Default Symeon's Chapter 2 Thread

Chapter 2.

My ideas/hopes:

1) The land. Most people seem to think it's gonna be off the current world map, and high-level rumors of it being set in far-southern Cantha are abound.
Cantha, the land where the Xunlai come from, sounds like it's gonna be a bit like a Chinese/Korean race of trading peoples. Dunno whether it's taken from Canton, Cantonese and other Chinese stuff etc., but it really sounds similar to a far eastern country.
So, firstly it needs to be better looking. It's gotta have way bigger areas so you are more free to explore, and the areas need to be pretty, with big, noisy waterfalls, forests of high trees that you can walk through, beautiful river valleys, and ancient, impressive cities. There need to be more deserty deserts, more jungley jungles, and more mountainous mountains.
Then it's gotta be more passable. Not like some have suggested that it could be like you can scale cliffs, swim, climb mountains and stuff. But you could at least walk through forests rather than stick to the beaten path. The most open area in Guild Wars seems to be the desert, and that's a desert. We need rocks over the tops of waterfalls to walk across, forests to wander in, hills to stroll over, and mountains to climb rather than just seemingly be always walking at a middle-ish level.
And finally, it has to be more varied. Yes, Chapter 1 has deserts, jungles, beaches, mountains etc. but they're not diverse enough. We've really gotta feel we're there.

2) Enemies must be way more varied. It's simple really - there are very few variations of enemies on GW and they are all part of the same 'family'. We need polar bears, baboons, lions, Stymphalian birds, gorillas, shining-armoured soldiers, Amazons and such, not just these boring families that continue throughout the game.

3) Gameplay needs to be less linear. Yes maybe we should still have missions, but there should be different ways you can go, different stories you can follow, different places you can go and you can roam about the world freely doing quests and it is all very open.

4) New professions. I say no more.

Feel free to comment on my ideas or put in your own concerning Chapter 2. It doesn't matter that Anet might have already decided everything, we can still have ideas and discuss and suggest.

Are there any official articles on this?
I for one would like to have more storage space, or the ability to have moe than 4 characters.

I don't get why everyone says this...have you played a MMO before? There is very little variety in monsters. Of course they will add new ones, but expect to still see same ones reappearing with different skins and names in different areas.

I've played and watched WoW and it seems to have a larger variety of enemies than Guild Wars.

I realize that, I've played it myself. But you see the same monsters, reskinned and renamed quite frequently as well. You see it in many RPGs. I don't think its going to change anytime soon.

What I want in Ch2? I want it to IMPRESS me. I really could care less what it will feature as long it's new and I want to check it out. So I will just wait patiently and be in awe when it's out, instead of guessing and wishing what it could bring. Takes out all the fun. Think presents... Before you open the package you think of what could be inside, and when you open and it's not what you expected, you feel a bit on a down side..

Somehow I feel a certain group of folk who have huge wishlists will be disappointed once the game is released because none to little of their wishes came true.

Some good ideas here.

You know, this is kinda sad, but my favorite area of GW is pre-searing!

Everything you wanted was right there. I'm still exploring the far corners of it and finding a cave or stuff I missed before... pre-searing is what I wanted the rest of GW to be like.

But once you get into an area, it's ALL the same, all dessert, all mountain, all jungle, etc.

So I agree with the OP, the new area should be more open, with lots of places to explore and be surprised by new environs.

Oh, and please let us move over small hills that wouldn't stop a child, much less a Hero!

yup, and in gw they aren't even reskinned or renamed, they are just the same thing. and there is that godaweful section of diessa lowlands where there is nothing but stone elementals for about 3 miles. it's jsut borning as hell.

Indeed! More variety (or at least reskinned/renamed) in enemies, better environ interaction with at least a little swimming. There aren't any moving bodies of water. Everything is stagnant - mosquito breeding grounds anyone? I think there should be more event-based missions that take place at certain times and areas that can possibly change the outcome of the game as well as the look of the environment. Granted this wouldn't be the focus of missions to come, but some major side-stories that follow the main story. Sort of like the Halloween event, but much more related. I'd like to see some additions to city living. Pubs, inns, auction houses, blacksmith huts, and so on. As it is, everyone everywhere just kind of lives in the elements. Make cities and towns LARGER. I want to roam some streets, have to seek out the traders and crafters, I want to be able to go INTO buildings, not just walk around ones that couldn't hold my Melandru's Stalker. Give us more!

I have had the thought on a new skill line for some time, of constructs or golems that are similar to the pet line of rangers now. You would have a limit of one at a time and could use the raw materials from armor contrustion to use as the build components. They would equip just like pets currently do.

Sorry for the double post......

I like this idea. I'm guessing these would be available for elementalists?

That was my thinking or if a new magic wielding class is coming about maybe them. The skill lines being tied to each element really doesnt allow for a whole new skill line that would be at odds to that. The golems could have different strenths based on their contruction type, granite slabs - stone golems, hits maybe can be boosted to do knockdown or dazing, iron/steel - armor penetration, etc

One thing i'm praying for (i'm definitely sure it'll be there, but still praying for) is NEW ARMOR! And I don't mean just more 15k expensive armors. A HUGE new variety of armors! Plenty of rare hard to find collector armors, unique armors like the knockdown and death boots, maybe even jewelry (idk mostly for looks, but maybe like +2 energy rings or +1AL that is added to all armor!)

id like to see bonus missons that are optional to do.
bonus missions will be more challenging than normal and instead of getting 1000xp in the end, you get a nice sweet Reward Chest.

That's a good idea, Thirty, the game could definitely use more rewards for players trudging through the mindless missions.

I DEFINITELY agree with you on this. The maps in this game are almost all made like some kind of glorified maze. It's freaking retarded. There's a reason pre searing just rocks the rest of the game: It's designed as if it were a real place in real life, where roaming around is totally possible. The rest of the game would be much more enjoyable if things were implemented like this.

As far as enemies goes, I think there should be more variety, but reskinning is lame if you ask me. If they're too lazy to make new enemies, at least add WILFLIFE. This is something you don't even see except in a few select places, and then you're like, "Omg wow! A shark!"
You know? The wildlife doesn't need to be hostile, but I think that it should increase level wise as you progress through the game, and everything should be tamable. I'm totally all for a level 20 Monarach Butterfly on my ranger. Plus higher level creatures all over would give Otyugh's Cry a purpose.

I mostly agree.
I could do with a large city, not ruins, but a real city, slums, palace, walls, gates, inns, taverns, houses.

Would explain the introduction of Assassins, you know, political intrigue and whatnot. Could lead to a "pre-searing" realm for all of the new classes, exclusive to newly created characters utilizing atleast one part of the new Classes. Assassin training.

Alot of varied human enemies, crime lords, crooked politicians all deserving of a dagger in the back or a poison in their mouths while sleeping. Award XP bonus for completing assassination in desired style by employer.

A wide variety of armor's I support. All levels of AC.The fact that' we're already the same models depending on male female of each class, with options of only hair. If I like the look of this armor, but want the attributes of the other armor, why can't I do that?

I would love to see mission rewards that are fitting to each character, especially an Assassin. He doesn't want to have to Hak his rewards at a pawn shop or other users, he wan'ts gold, and better weapons.

2 words
Monster pets.
Shadows, golems(as mentioned), enable each class to have specific pets. Improve pet AI so you don't need to tell it to attack, that seem's a little lame. IT should know it's either them or the monster, and use any attack they can do, they're warrior pets, not just an extention of me.
Atleast improve rangers Pet ai, make pets attacks passive(don't need them in skills)

Landscape. Enable better travel. Don't clip on so much junk, but have a different animation to walk through it. Big thorny bushes, your hands will be up in the air moving branches out of the way. Hills that you can see the top of in FirstPerson view, but ctill can't walk right up...This part really buggs me.
Someone posted taller trees, a forrest that feels like you're an ant in a cathedral.
Bigger zones Use something like morrowind(silt striders), explain how you're teleporting from town to town, clicking on the map is a little mundane.
Dealing with monster spawns, make it so that you have to go through, 4 different zones, then if you come back, then that first one is full of monsters again.
That would help with farming alot. There are some places with ALOT of monsters right inside the gates, you can farm/ level yourself easy, walking in and out. Story was "OK" on this one, but the landscape really needs to be more linear. If you die, give the option to just go back to town, and stop making it wait so long before a respawn.

As far as enemy variations. 2 max. Boss type, drone type, for monsters, human enemies should be highly variant if they're included. Intermingle monsters, allies and friends. It shouldn't be commonly excepted that 80% of all monsters just happen to get along. Minotarus, Trolls, and the Ancient oakenheart things, don't seem like natrual allies. If you get my drift.
Some animals, natural VS created, you would expect high territory fight numbers.

Unless the monsters are actually sentries or something, they shouldn't automatically aggro on you, untill you get too close(think half aggro bubble).

Anyways, yeah, those are more a list of what gets on my nerves now, rather than genuine ideas for a new game, but that's what expansions are for right?
